Born and raised in Turkey, Ilkay received her undergraduate degree at Bilkent University in Business Administration. After 4 years of corporate experience in marketing and advertising, she decided to pursue her passion for Pilates. She completed her training in New York in 2012 with the founders of Pilates Academy International, Katherine and Kimberly Corp, who are also members of the Pilates Method Alliance.

After the Pilates apparatus certifications, she worked with individuals from all different movement backgrounds and with special conditions. Her path crossed with a certification program designed and developed by a doctor of physical therapy for movement specialists. She enhanced her way of thinking and working with her clients with certifications on disorders and disabilities of the spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle as well as scoliosis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia. Her current education focus and passion is myofascial movement.
She managed a studio as the co-owner for 3 years in Istanbul before moving to NYC. She continued working DPTs and their patients while working with her clients, including dancers, professional athletes, as a freelance instructor. She moved to Miami in 2021 after spending 3 years in NYC and continues to work with her clients online during the lockdowns.
She believes that learning is a lifelong process, especially for movement instructors. If she is not teaching, you can find her studying her new passion myofascial movement, to improve the movement intellect of her clients.
