“Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.”   -Blaise Pascal, Mathematician, physicist and inventor

Lately, I’ve been thinking about and hearing much talk about “service with a smile”. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind to others, to take into consideration that someone else may be having a bad day, have some pain or discomfort or simply be going through trying times. Service-based industry is dependent on customer satisfaction and how better to achieve that than to provide service with a smile.

Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.” – Benjamin Franklin

Our Philosophy

At Pilates in the Grove, we strive to provide “service with a smile”. By that, I don’t mean that your Pilates instructor should be cheesily grinning throughout your class but that they should be considerate and mindful of moods, attitudes, restrictions and feelings of clients. As Pilates instructors and physical therapists, our goal is not only to provide you with a good workout and to ease your pain or discomfort but also to make you leave our studio knowing that we care about you. It may be something small – just being addressed by your name, or your instructor remembering that you have wrist issues or knee issues and specifically giving you modifications for those issues during your class. That small gesture matters. When you go to a restaurant, for example, and the waiter or owner addresses you by name and welcomes you back, doesn’t it make you want to frequent that restaurant more often? When you go into a clothing store and the owner or sales clerk remembers you and mentions that garment that you had contemplated purchasing the last time you were there, doesn’t that incite you to return more often?

Whatever your profession, treating others with kindness and respect will produce mind- blowing results and lead to success. A little goes a long way, especially when you provide “service with a smile”.

“A customer is the most important visitor on our premises, he is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.” – Mahatma Gandhi

We look forward to serving you with a smile at Pilates in the Grove.
