A true born and bred Texan, Kelsey Garcia received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Fitness had always been a cornerstone in both her personal and professional life (with over 15 years of gymnastics and volleyball training and it’s associated injuries) which served as her initial draw towards the Physical Therapy profession.
Kelsey later received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami and is a board certified Physical Therapist specializing in a variety of physical therapy in both in-patient and out–patient settings. She has experience working in the orthopedic field treating a plethora of hip, knee, shoulder and spinal injuries. Additionally, she brings experience treating neurological conditions including spinal cord injury, MS, stroke, Parkinson’s and CP.
While completing her doctorate at UM, she also began her study of the Pilates Method. Kelsey went on to continue her Pilates Training through Polestar Education where she completed a Comprehensive Training Program and became a PMA-certified Pilates Practitioner.
As she furthered her Pilates education and practice she was immediately sold on its necessity in the rehabilitation world. Kelsey sought out positions where she could combine her knowledge of Pilates and Physical Therapy. She now also serves as a mentor for Polestar Education Teacher Training programs assisting in the development and education of future Pilates practitioners.
During her time at the University of Miami, Kelsey was co-founder of the first ever student-run pro-bono clinic. Its mission was to provide Physical Therapy services to the local uninsured population. She also extended her community outreach internationally and organized the first annual PT Service Mission trip to Costa Rica. During this trip Kelsey and her fellow students provided much needed services to those that would not normally be able to obtain that kind of quality care.
Kelsey is very passionate about movement as medicine, community outreach and education, which have helped her create unique experiences for clients through Pilates-based strengthening programs.
During her free time, Kelsey enjoys traveling, climbing, running, tracking down a good live music venue, and reading.
